1. Mini-Masterpiece – Blue Misty Mountain

What started as a simple experiment in watercolour layering turned into a peaceful scene—misty mountains emerging from soft blue veils of indigo. I know it sounds ridiculous, but it’s a revelation being able to recreate a calming, peaceful scene, and then standing back and looking at the result!

2. Mini-Masterpiece – Tree In Springtime

I was on holiday in Spain, wandering through a flea market with my sister Jules, when I bought a small painting. This was years before I ever picked up a paintbrush myself. What drew me in were the lush, lime-green leaves—so full of life and possibility. It’s taken me a long time to learn how to paint that same freshness.

This piece is a celebration of Spring. The tender baby leaves unfurling are full of promise. Young fresh buds are a reassuring reminder that new chapters are always waiting to unfold in our lives.

3. Mini-Masterpiece – Single Pink Rose

Who says a Rose should be red? This single pink rose, painted from memory, offers an understated kind of romance. The dusty pink bloom is perfectly balanced by an ethereal sea-green background—a pairing that feels both tender and bold.
This one’s close to my heart. It will be hard to let it go.

4. Mini-Masterpiece – Retro Abstract

This one takes me right back to my teenage years. The shapes, the colours—it’s a little portal to the late ’60s and early ’70s.

High-waisted jeans, aviator sunglasses, tie-dye tops, and flared bell-bottoms.
Iconic Movies – Jaws, Bullitt, and The French Connection. That unmistakable chic that somehow never goes out of style.

And then the music—so cool it still sounds fresh today. I remember my sister Jules introducing me and my other sisters to Brasil ’66. We thought we were impossibly sophisticated.

This piece holds all of that energy—laid-back, bold, and effortlessly groovy (baby!).

5. Mini-Masterpiece – Ancient Manuscript

On my sixtieth birthday, I spent two quiet hours in the British Library, leafing through a 14th-century illuminated manuscript linked to the Book of Kings.

It was all in Latin—not a word I could understand—but it didn’t matter. I was spellbound.
The vellum pages, the delicate gold leaf, the way each letter had been lovingly formed… I was transported back as I leafed through every single page. The Medieval Scribe had even drawn little doodles of strange creatures in the margins!

This little piece is my own creative nod to that experience. A whisper of ancient mastery, painted in miniature.

6. Mini-Masterpiece – Pink Roses

Soft, joyful, and full of life. These pink roses felt like they painted themselves—each petal blooming with its quiet, ethereal rhythm. I loved watching this one unfold. Letting it go won’t be easy, but I know it’s ready to bloom in someone else’s space.

7. Mini-Masterpiece – Autumn Evening

I nearly called this one The Eve of St Agnes—there’s something about it that glimmers and glows, like a memory seen within the embers of a fire.

It made me think of warm tapestries, flickering candlelight, and the richness of fruits ripening on the vine.
That warming kind of magic where everything feels just on the cusp of something.

“St Agnes’ Eve—Ah, bitter chill it was…”
That first line is like settling down to read a good book and a mug of cocoa.

“The carved angels, ever eager-eyed, stared where upon their heads the cornice rests,
With hair blown back, and wings put cross-wise on their breasts.
They told her how, upon St Agnes’ Eve,
Young virgins might have visions of delight…
And all at once her heart felt for the food of love—
Pomegranates, quinces, and plums…”

8. Mini-Masterpieces – Tiny Bouquet

I’ve struggled to find the right words for this one—maybe because it’s all about the things we don’t need to say.

Sometimes, you don’t need to send a grand bouquet to express how you feel. Just a few simple stems in a jar… can be more than enough. Isn’t it the gesture that’s the important thing? And sometimes the smallest and most delicate of blooms can mean a lot.

This little piece is a quiet reminder that small gestures still speak volumes.

9. Mini-Masterpiece – Spring Blossoms

Every year in Japan, spring is welcomed with a special festival celebrating the very first blossoms on the trees. There’s even someone appointed to officially declare when that first flower appears—only then can the festivities begin.

Japanese gardens have always struck me as places of sanctuary—quiet, calm, and filled with beauty.
And honestly… we all need a little bit of that in our lives, don’t we?

10. Mini-Masterpiece – Blue Aegean Sea

A torn fragment of Latin text is embedded in this abstract seascape—like a relic surfaced from deep below. Inspired by my fascination with ancient history and the cities swallowed up by time and sea, this piece is a simple tribute to the treasures and symbols that still lie hidden beneath the waves…
