Taking time out in between spinning lots of plates!
I'm on a quest to develop my new career as a self-taught Visual Artist. That means learning about landing pages, filming videos, and learning how to use A.I. as well as updating my website. It's relentless at the moment, so I took the opportunity to sit in the garden and slow down even for 30 minutes. Oh, and I'm creating my very first Art collection!
My task list is as long as yer arm!! 🤦
Is it just me on a hampster wheel?

Time to Contemplate and Connect
This weekend, I'm thinking about contemplation and switching off to recharge my batteries.
This artwork reminds me of a story about Sir Isaac Newton.
When he was 17 and a student at Cambridge University, he bought a Prism at the Stourbridge Fayre. Back in his lodgings, he closed the blinds - apart from allowing a single beam of sunlight to peak through - 🌞
He watched the light from the sunbeam reflected and refracted through the Prism, producing a rainbow of colours all around. This experiment ultimately led to his discovery of the spectrum of light and the Colour Wheel. 🌈That's the unscientific version of the story by the way!
This Tudor window at Montecute House in Somerset is the perfect spot to pause, reflect and contemplate. Montecute House was used as a location for filming BBCs 'Wolf Hall'
What's your favourite spot for quiet contemplation? 🙏🫖

Question: Do buildings have Souls? Sorry if this seems a bit of a weird question. When I was 7 or 8, I would walk past a large, eerie building in London on my way to regular hospital checkups with my mum. To be honest, I thought the looming building was a little bit scary, and I was anxious to hurry past it. I sensed a lonely, stark, and chilly feeling. What I didn't know was that this Gothic masterpiece - the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel - had been closed and virtually abandoned since 1935. In the 1960s, it narrowly avoided demolition. Fast forward to 2011 when it was restored to its Renaissance magnificence. Then, in 2017, I walked past it again and saw it through fresh eyes. I sensed something entirely different. Power, soul and energy! During the Covid-19 crisis in 2020, I created a watercolour of the hotel and I'm grateful it hasn't been demolished, and this grand, proud London marvel has been reborn. 🙏 #architectureArt #watercolourArchitecture #StPancrasRenaissanceHotel #londonarchitecture #urbansketching #historicbuildings #restorationart #travelinspiredart #ArtistsOver50 #visualartists #selftaughtartist #artcollector #watercolourartist
